Founded by a mother who lost her daughter in an impaired driving crash, the mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.

With the help of those who want a safer future, MADD's Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving will end this danger on America's roads. The four prongs of the Campaign are to support the heroes who keep our roadways safe with high-visibility law enforcement to catch drunk drivers and encourage others from drinking and driving, to require convicted drunk drivers to blow before they go with ignition interlocks or in-car breathalyzers to prove they are sober before their car starts, to turn cars into the cure by tomorrow's cars automatically determining whether or not the driver is at or above the legal limit of .08, and to rally public support to help spread our lifesaving message.

As one of the nation's largest victim services organizations, MADD supports impaired driving victims and survivors. With the emotional, financial and legal issues they face on a daily basis, victim survivors need support to confront the challenges that lie ahead, and at MADD, we help survivors survive.

At MADD, we know that our hopes for a safer future are riding on tomorrow's drivers. By getting today's youth off to a good start, we are taking a giant step toward fulfilling our vision of a nation without drunk driving. That's why we're focused on tackling underage drinking, a problem that threatens the safety of our kids and endangers entire communities, now and down the road.

On average, two in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime. We don't know when; we don't know who. We do, however, want to be prepared. MADD is an organization of victims and non-victims determined to make a difference in the lives of those victimized by impaired driving crashes. We recognize our fundamental responsibility as giving a voice to victims who have been affected by this violent crime.
