Our
team works hard to support Murwood, a diverse school in Walnut Creek with over 20 different
languages spoken among its families. Murwood offers a high quality education along with an
emphasis on character building to a diverse group of eager learners. Providing the resources our
children deserve is expensive which is why the Murwood PTA contributes over $100,000
annually toward much-needed technology, programs, and materials.
Murwood is a Title 1 school, with approximately 21% of our students qualifying for free
or reduced lunch. Title I is a part of the overall Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Its
main aim is to give lower performing students an opportunity to improve to a proficient level on
the state assessments. These students include: students who score below standard on state tests,
students who are failing one or more subjects, students who have poor attendance, and English
Language Learners.
