The mission of the Muscatine Humane Society is to educate the public about the importance of and dire necessity to spay and neuter their pets to prevent the needless suffering that follows pet overpopulation. Concurrently, the Society provides a safe haven for lost or abandoned animals until their owners or a new home can be obtained. The Society generally houses approximately 100 cats and 40 dogs at any given time; however, they have had two instances in the last two years that has almost doubled the amount of animals they care for – recently taking in 42 additional pets from one location.
