The History of California is written in the story of Benicia -

The Museum of History Benicia (MoHB) is a small independent museum located primarily in 4 of the oldest military buildings remaining in Northern California, though we have recently expanded our museum campus to include a downtown Benicia location as well.

Our mission is to teach the history of California. Through our programs and field trips students are exposed to our state’s history beginning approximately 13,000 years ago and progressing through periods of early California Amerindian inhabitation, to the Rancho Period of Early California, the California Gold Rush, California in the Civil War, and most recently with the building of California during WWI and WWII.

With almost 40 years as an established history museum, we have made continual strides in public outreach and programming and the funds generated by this event go directly back to our education mission and the continued building of the infrastructure and needs of the hands-on public programs, field trips, and more, that we provide, students, scouts, families, and our general visitors daily.
