Our mission: To nurture the love and literacy of music in children's classrooms and lives by trained community volunteers. MFMII also provides performance opportunities for children at school sites and on professional stages in the community.
With all the cuts in music education, MFMII has been keeping music alive in the elementary classrooms, in the east bay area since 1988, through our volunteer docent program. Every fall we offer free training to volunteers to teach music (singing/signing, dance/movement and instruments) to children each year. They are then placed in an elementary classroom to teach music weekly to the children. MFMII also holds free monthly online music and movement sessions for kids which have been very popular as well as interactive music booths in the community. We also sponsor the MFMII kids choir which performs in the community. We all know that music is essential for the well-being of everyone.
