Mind Your Brain Foundation (MYB), a Blocallybased 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to fill the gap in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) post-acute/rehabilitation care by conduction dynami regional, patient-centric free conferences that include presentations, interactive discussions, cognitive workshops and resource sharing by a variety of clinical experts, research authorities and TBI survivors.  WHile medical and ancillary services exist for patients in the acute and rehabilitative stages of care, until MYB was founded, there existed no formal network of services who already passes these stages of care and seek rehabilitation options for a lifetime of improvement.

In 2005, Candace Gandtt, our Founder and Executive Director, suffered a TBI while training for an Ironman competition.  She was hite by a construction vehicle while riding her bike and her head a telephone pole and she suffered a TBI.  Against all odds, Candace was walking and talking again within months.  Candace wanted to give back to other TBI survivors and their families.  She was grateful for her recovery and wanted to help others.  That is why Candace founded MYB in 2013.

Please see the statistics on TBI:

-5.3MM of Americans are living with a long-term disability due to a TBI

-Every 5 seconds, someone in the U.S. suffers a TBI

-Over 5,000 Americans die each month from a TBI-related injury

MYB can changes the lives of brain injury survivors by improving the level of their cognitiive and emotional functioning, and minimize the communiry re-entry challenges they face, by providing free TBI conferences, connecting them with invaluable resources and developing cutting edge virtual reality tolls.  To date, MYB has conducted 3 free TBI conferences, recorded a library of 75 podcasts featuring clinicians, physicians and experts in the field of brain injury that have provided tools and tips to 7,200 listeners, developed and conducted clinical trials in Virtual Reality mindfulness and training modules and supported other rehabilitation research projects.
