In 1970, the foundation was set up as the nonprofit owner of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival- Jazz Fest- with a mission to sow seeds of our unique culture for generations to come. In the early days, the festival wasn’t the world-famous event that it is today-one that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to New Orleans. It is often said that the first Jazz Fest would one day grow into a major success. Everyone involved wanted to make sure that the festival’s proceeds would be redistributed int the local community. To that end, the Foundation 501©(3) nonprofit organization, was established.

On the evening of April 22, 2020, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Inc. will present its 22nd Gala at the Hilton Riverside Hotel, 2 Poydras Street, 70130 New Orleans.  Proceeds from this year’s Gala will advance the Foundation’s mission of promoting, preserving, perpetuating and encouraging the music, arts, culture and heritage of communities in Louisiana. In order to make this event even more successful, we are inviting you to support the Gala by donating a silent auction item.

This premier event is the Jazz & Heritage Foundation’s annual opportunity to raise funds for the Don Jamison Heritage School of Music. The Heritage School of Music provides free-of-charge instruction to foster the next generation of New Orleans musicians. The silent auction is an integral feature to the Gala, and your donation will be seen by more than 700 guests from across the nation. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation produces year-round community development activities in the areas of education, economic development and cultural programming.
