Newton Mustangs Youth Football & Cheer is Newton’s city‐wide organization for children who love participating in the sport
ofifootball and cheerleading. The program is 100% volunteer based. As part of the American Youth Football program the
Newton Mustangs are part of the Bay State League competing against teams from across the Metrowest suburbs. The Newton
Mustangs Football program consists of five grade based teams ranging from grades 2 through 8. The Newton Mustangs cheer
program is open to all children from grades 2 through 8. In 2019 more than 100 children and their families participated in
the program.
The goal of the program is to provide local youths the opportunity to be part of a team and through their participation help
them to develop self‐confidence, leadership skills and make lasting friendships. All Mustangs have the opportunity to learn
strong skills on the field including discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork. Coaches and volunteers from the program
encourage participants to take these positive skills learned during the program and use them in their personal lives and in
their community.
