The mission of Nexus-Onarga is to change the course of a child’s life by stabilizing families and strengthening mental health. We help children and families recover from severe and complex trauma because of the abuse, neglect, and violence they have experienced. For the young people served by Nexus, their level of trauma can be as much as 4-10x times higher than average. We work with youth so they can learn to manage their emotions, develop healthy relationships, and transition back into a healthier place. Their increased capacity for resilience creates stronger adults who can create more vibrant communities.
Nexus Family Healing has two locations in Illinois. Nexus-Onarga Family Healing is in a quaint, campus-like setting in the community of Onarga, Illinois, about 90 miles south of Chicago. Nexus-Indian Oaks Family Healing is located approximately 50 miles south of Chicago, in the small, rural community of Manteno, Illinois.
Annually, Nexus Family Healing in Illinois helps over 200 young males and females ages 10-21 years old. who come from over 30 counties across the State.
