Opened in 2020, just before the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nipissing Serenity Hospice is a bilingual 10-bed residential hospice providing a peaceful, caring and supportive environment that embraces all without discrimination. It is a place where quality end-of-life care is honoured in a compassionate and holistic manner. We strive to meet spiritual, psycho-social and physical needs to relieve pain and suffering for both residents and their families.
Our expert multi-disciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, personal support workers, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, palliative care volunteers, and multi-faith chaplaincy offers 24 hour palliative care.
All of our services are offered free of charge and our clinical team works tirelessly to ensure our residents and families are supported and able to die with dignity, compassion and support along the journey toward end of life. Annually, we are required to raise around $800,000 (or around 60% of our budget) to continue providing basic end-of-life care services. We are therefore reliant on donations and fundraisers to make up this amount.
