The Foundation was organized as a nonprofit, philanthropic organization with the mission to support research, raise funds, and inform the public about Batten Disease. The Foundation joins the efforts of two families with children who have died from Batten Disease in an effort to identify top schientific research efforts leading to the discovery of treatments and a cure for Batten Disease. The Foundation has been created to support research, raise funds, and inform the community about Batten Disease. Batten Disease is a rare, fatal autosoal recessive neurodegegenerative disorder that begins in childhood. It is the most common form of a group of disorders call neuronal ceroid lipfuscinosis or NCL.
