Noah's House Mental Health Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization in Windsor, ON, Canada.  We seek grant funding to assist with operating the youth centre where Noah's House provides FREE mental health services and FREE one-on-one counselling to youth ages 11-25 in Windsor-Essex County.

History

Noah's House was established in 2018 after Noah Butcher-Hagell lost his battle with mental illness.  Noah's House is working to fill the gap in mental health support by empowering and inspiring individuals to break the chains of mental illness in both a non-clinical and clinical setting.  In addition, Noah's House is decreasing the barriers to mental health support by ensuring all their services are FREE!

Noah's House has faced the challenge of maintaining services through the Covid-19 pandemic.  Nonetheless, it has survived and thrived, reaching over 300 youth since opening the youth centre doors in September 2020.

Work

Currently, Noah's House provides a safe and inclusive space that contributes to positive mental health support through a drop-in youth centre. Among the variety of programs, Noah's House provides "Bro Code" for males, "Self-Love Club" for females and an LGBTQIA+ pride program that offers mental health wellness skills based on peer interactions. Activities such as arts and crafts, yoga and book clubs also assist in achieving this goal. One-on-one counselling is also available, provided by Registered Social Workers. In addition, Noah's House continues to reach out into the community, seeking to establish footholds in the Indigenous and black communities with culturally sensitive mental health programming. Unfortunately, the average wait time in Windsor- Essex to access mental health counselling is 490 days (https://cmho.org/wp-content/uploads/CMHO-Report-WaitTimes-2020.pdf); that is too late for the case for many youth as the leading cause of death is suicide for youth ages 10 to 18.
