The Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Foundation (OPPF) is a non-profit charitable foundation working with psychiatrists and other medical and mental health professionals to ensure the highest quality psychiatric care for Ohioans now and in the future. We do this through professional education that enriches clinical knowledge; public education to increase awareness of mental health issues; and support for research to advance psychiatric knowledge and outcomes.

In 1968, the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Association established its separate 501(c)(3) education and research foundation for the purpose of engaging exclusively in scientific, educational and charitable activities to improve the understanding, detection, care and treatment of mental illness and emotional disorders.

The mission of the Ohio Psychiatric Physicians Foundation (OPPF) is to improve the health and well-being of Ohioans by fostering psychiatric education and research.

The OPPF envisions a day when there is sufficient, high quality psychiatric treatment available to all Ohioans.

Programs:
Professional Education
The Foundation, in collaboration with others (when appropriate), will develop and fund educational offerings and projects designed to improve and enrich professional knowledge and skills of psychiatrists and other medical and mental health professionals in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. This may include programs to encourage healthier personal and professional lifestyles for psychiatrists, medical and other mental health professionals.

Public Education
The Foundation, in collaboration with others (when appropriate), will encourage and sponsor educational programs to increase awareness and knowledge of mental disorders and effective treatments available today. The Foundation may support educational efforts aimed at employers, the media, persons with a mental disorder and their families to encourage a better understanding of the disorders and their treatment. The Foundation may also support efforts to remove barriers to access to psychiatric care.
