Ojai Hearing Foundation is a new nonprofit with strength, grit, and the “have to” to get things done. We may have only been a designated nonprofit since May 1, 2023, but we are making strides that may be unprecedented in our local community. Our mission is to assist with amplification for anyone in need with limited resources in order to improve their hearing health, quality of life, and to bring back the enjoyment of everyday conversations. Our organization is 100% supported by donors like you.
Our "Hear the Difference" program is tailored to fit those who fall through the cracks: those without Medi-Cal, those without funding, and those who do not have credit scores to support a loan to cover the cost of hearing aids. We offer sliding fee scales, payment plans with no interest, as well as fully-sponsored hearing aids with the donations we receive.
We are currently working with an applicant who was formerly a schoolteacher. She had come to us through a medical referral and swore up and down that she wouldn’t qualify for funding because she’s just scraping by on her bills and, as she stated, “To get any help you need to have nothing.” She has always made just enough money to get by, but never quite enough to put away for emergency expenses. She’s always enjoyed going to concerts and working with children, which she has found difficult to do or enjoy with her level of hearing loss. She feels depressed and left out of society without having the assistance of quality hearing aids. We found that she not only qualified medically, but also financially for our Hear the Difference program.
