The mission of Okizu is to help all members of families affected by childhood cancer to heal through peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs. The primary operation is Camp Okizu, the Northern California Oncology Camp.

The cost of sending a child to camp for one week is approximately $1,000. Depending on the size of the family, the cost of a weekend at Family Camp is approximately $300 per person. Because many of the families we serve are already financially stressed from the expenses associated with their child’s illness, we do not charge a fee to attend Camp Okizu.

The annual program schedule will include three one-week sessions of Oncology Camp, four one-week sessions of SIBS Camp, ten weekend Family Camps, three Teens-N-Twenties weekend trips and two weekends for bereaved teenagers and young adults, serving more than 3,500 people each year!

Okizu continues to actively seek new sources of funding through special events and the generosity of individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations to help provide the funds necessary to support our programs. We invite your participation in joining our commitment to provide children with cancer the joy and excitement of a medically supervised residential summer camp that they might otherwise not be able to attend.
