The mission of the Olivia Chan Foundation is to provide grief support in a safe place for children, teens, young adults and their families during their grief journey in hopes that one day they can rediscover moments of happiness. Services that our organization offers is as follows: 1) Create a safe and inclusive space for children, teens, young adults and their families to express their emotions. 2) Provide peer grief support groups where people can connect with others who have experienced similar losses. 3) Train all team members and volunteers with the Dougy Model. 4) Raise awareness about grief and its impact on mental health through community outreach and events. 5) Use art and play to promote emotional well-being and creative grief self-expression.

An estimated 1 in 12 children in the US will lose a parent or a sibling before the age of 18, constituting over 4 million children nationally. Sadly, not everyone possesses the ability to engage in conversations surrounding grief, often leaving those grappling with the loss feeling alone and isolated, particularly the young members of our community. It is this void that the Olivia Chan Foundation seeks to fill - a haven where individuals navigating loss can find unwavering support and
genuine understanding. Our youth grief sessions will consist of art, music and play to promote emotional well-being and creative grief self-expression. The establishment of a grief center in Sacramento will directly address the specific challenges encountered by grieving families in the region. The Olivia Chan Foundation has the potential to profoundly impact the community by nurturing resilience, alleviating isolation, and enhancing the mental and emotional well-being
of children and families as they navigate grief, providing consistent support year-round. With our fundraising efforts we hope to raise funds to benefit activities to support grieving families as well as helping us reach our ultimate goal of building a grief center in our Sacramento community.
