One Man's Treasure, a faith based 501 (c)3, seeks to empower men recently released from a Texas state men's prison who return to the Dallas/Fort Worth and North East Texas area by providing them with clothing and guidance to essential social servivces with the goal to break the cycle of recidivism and poverty.
Released with $100 and an ill-fitting shirt and pants, these often overlooked indigent men are faced with many challenges to successful reentry with little, if any, support, often with low education and job skills, and the meager funds they have are needed for shelter, food and transportation. Our mission is centered on the belief that if these returning men can find employment, they can lift themselves out of poverty, assist with the financial needs of their family and successfully reintegrate into their communities. Our program provides a "fresh start" set of clothing that provides a sense of dignity, meets their immediate basic daily wear needs and is also appropriate for job interviews and employment opportunities. The personaliced set of clothing is delivered to the client at his residence and our male volunteers provide encouragement and guidance to other resources during this critical time of transition.
The desired outcome of our program is a better future for these men and their families as well as lower recidivism which results in safer communities for all.
