JACK GALLAHER SCHOLARSHIP GOLF TOURNAMENT

for the

Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES Adult Career Training Programs

Dr. Daniel Elstein established the Jack Gallaher Helping Hand Fund upon Jack Gallaher’s retirement from OCM BOCES.  Jack’s commitment to Adult Education programs was evident through the ongoing provision of resources and facilities to the department. The fund was developed to support adult students entering or re-entering the workforce, who lack technical skills necessary to be job ready.

Many of our adult students experience financial hardships both prior to and during training.  The Jack Gallaher Helping Hand Fund directly supports those students through scholarships for tuition assistance or gap loans, transportation assistance, housing help, childcare and other areas unique to the adult learner.  Our goal is to help students complete their training and move toward financial self-sufficiency.

In order to sustain the fund, OCM BOCES sponsors an Annual Charity Golf Tournament.  This year’s event is being held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at The Links at Erie Village in East Syracuse, New York.

Funds for the scholarship are generated by local businesses in several ways.

  • Gift cards or certificates and smaller donations used for raffles.
  • Tee flag sponsorship - business names are placed on the golf course for a donation of $100.
  • Major Sponsorship – for a donation of $500 OCM BOCES produces large banners with the company name for all major sponsors. The banners are displayed all day during the event.

We appreciate any gift you might choose to make.  In addition to cash and gift contributions, many companies put a team together and participate in the golf tournament, which is a fun way to spend a summer day.

If you wish to participate in the tournament, please contact Terri Redhead at tredhead@ocbmboces.org for registration materials.
