Our Savior's Lutheran Church funds and supports two local food pantries and a community garden. Ruby's Pantry - Denmark, Denmark Community Cupboard, and Denmark Community Gardens. With rising food costs and post-pandemic living, more families in our rural community are hurting for basic needs. Our Savior's, manage, volunteer, and host several fundraisers a year to help sponsor and support these pantries.
Ruby's Pantry - Denmark: Working with Ruby's Pantry, Our Savior's hires a semi-truck of food to come to Denmark once a month. Guests can pay a small fee, currently $25, for a share of the food on the truck. Their food bundle generally has a value of over $150.
Denmark Community Cupboard: Pastor Andy works with community volunteers to locate food and basic needs donations in the community. Once a month, volunteers deliver free bundles to individuals and families in need. Each delivered bundle is worth over $150.
The Community Garden: Getting fresh produce can be challenging for people in need. Our Community Garden is located on church-owned land. Anyone in the Denmark Community may use a raised bed to grow food. The food is then used to either supplement the Community Cupboard or used to make preserved food for the winter months.
All three of these community endeavors work hand-in-hand to support each other and hopefully fill gaps in the needs of our community.
