Out of the Pits is a 501c3 non-profit pit bull rescue located near Albany, NY. Our main focus is to educate the public about the true nature of the American Pit Bull Terrier and to showcase the pit bull through therapy dog work, agility, service dogs and family companions to restore them to their former position as America’s favorite dog. For over 25 years we have found loving homes for thousands of dogs and have served as a community resource in education, spay/neuter programs and to help families keep their dogs through behavioral counseling, training, food donations and vet care. Our spay/neuter program Fix-A-Bull offers low cost spays and neuters for pit bull type dogs in an effort to decrease the amount of unwanted pit bulls and keep them out of shelters. Out of the Pits also donates to local groups such as Street Soldiers to help homeless veterans care for their dogs. Our rescue is operated entirely by volunteers and community support.
