School Grades: Elementary School Middle School
The Children's School is the only public, full inclusion elementary school in New York City. Special education and general education students learn side by side throughout the school day from pre- kindergarten through fifth grade in every classroom. We also educate students on the autism spectrum from Kindergarten through Middle School at our campus in Fort Greene.
The Children’s School strives for diversity that mirrors the larger communities, including Gowanus, Park Slope, Red Hook, Sunset Park and Boerum Hill, from which it draws its 500+ students. We believe that learning to function in heterogeneous communities is a central goal of schooling and teaches kindness, tolerance and respect for all.
