The mission of Pathlight is to partner with people with disabilities to create opportunities and build relationships throughout their lives. Our vision is to live in a world where people with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and autism are recognized for their full human potential; where they are empowered to build an engaged and connected life, made up of the people and activities that they choose and that are meaningful to them.
Pathlight was founded in 1952. We serve families throughout Western Massachusetts with programs for children, teens, and adults with intellectual disabilities such as Down Syndrome, developmental disabilities, and with autism. We operate 20 group residences for people who have complex medical or behavioral needs, we have a program called Whole Children which provides a variety of afterschool classes for children of all abilities, and we give adults with disabilities support for independent living. We have a program called Shared Living which matches a person with a disability to live with a family in the community. Our program Autism Connections helps families connect with resources and holds an educational conference each year in Springfield.
