Paw Works is a Southern California nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to giving abandoned animals a second chance at life through education, awareness and community driven programs that offer spay/neuter, pet retention and affordable veterinary care. Since our founding in 2014, Paw Works has saved almost 12,000 animals from high kill shelters throughout the state. In our first month of opening, we were instrumental in helping the public shelters in Ventura County achieve "No Kill" status. Paw Works has a brick and mortar board and care facility in Camarillo, an adoption store at the Oaks Mall, and contracts with 4 PetSmart stores for cat/kitten adoptions. This past year we were able to open an affordable Veterinary Hospital to provide services to ourselves, other Rescues and the community. Through the Paw Works Veterinary Hospital, all the rescue animals are spayed/neutered, treated for fleas and parasites, vaccinated and microchipped. To date the hospital has treated over 5,000.

With over a 100 volunteers throughout the community to aid our small staff in caring for our animals and providing foster homes, our community is instrumental in the growth and well being of the organization. In addition, Paw Works has an education program for children through our “Child Pet Ambassador Program”, a “Sleep Over” program where prospective adopters can take an adult animal home for a prescribed time to see if it fits in their family and this past year Paw Works implemented a new program, “Dog Day Out”, where trained volunteers take one of our adult large breed dogs for an outing for exercise and fun.
