At Pecatonica Preschool, our mission is to provide a setting where children are allowed to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually to their full potential. We believe that the first five years of a child's life are the most formative so offer a rich variety of curriculum and activities that are developmentally appropriate to facilitate growth. Our preschool provides an environment where an attitude of cooperation, mutual respect and communication are encouraged and modeled to develop a sense of community. Our school is a kindergarten readiness program.
Class sizes are limited to allow for more one-on-one learning time, helping the teachers respond to your students interest, fostering further learning and language development.
Two teachers are present at all times and allow opportunities to explore the neighborhood through short walks or supervise play time in our secure outdoor play area.
The teachers are certified by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to direct and teach preschool. They have been chosen for their interest and experience in working with preschool children and their ability to recognize that each child is different and unique. They are both certified in CPR and first aid.
Pecatonica Preschool was incorporated in 1971. We are a not-for-profit preschool governed by a Board of Directors made up of parents and interested persons. We are located in the lower level of the Pecatonica United Methodist Church, but are not affiliated with or supported by area churches or schools.
