For 27 years, Pilgrim Center of Hope has worked faithfully in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, which serves 19 counties. In 2019, this ministry reached an average of 18,000 people each month (not including radio or newspaper audiences). This ministry was created in response to Pope John Paul II's call for a "New Evangelization", a call involving an interior change so that Christians can be effective bearers of the Gospel; and to encourage and guide the lay faithful in living and sharing the faith. Our mission is to guide people to encounter Christ so as to live in hope, as pilgrims in daily life. Founded in 1993, this Catholic evangelization ministry began with door-to-door home visitation within the parish boundaries of the Archdiocese of San Antonio.Applying the lessons learned from that door-to-door experience of the real-world and the daily lives of ordinary people, PCH is a resource for the field of evangelization, providing ongoing opportunities for faith enrichment and formation. It is a place that welcomes all who seek hope. In addition to providing a meeting space for the lay faithful involved in planning various ministries and events, PCH also provides a chapel with the Blessed Sacrament for Adoration/private prayer, a Prayer Garden, and outdoor Stations of the Cross.Since the early 1990s, Pilgrim Center of Hope has creatively used media for its mission. Following the challenge issued by Pope Francis in his encyclical Evangelii Gaudiumto evangelize by making the message of faith more interesting and attractive, Pilgrim Center of Hope has responded.Through printed educational brochures, articles and columns in both the San Antonio Express-News,as well as the archdiocesan Today’s Catholicnewspaper, a weekly program entitled Journeys of Hopeon Guadalupe Radio Network and published as a podcast and a weekly blog called the Pilgrim Log all reach many people. All of that combined with the Catholic Women’s, Men’s and Seniors’ Conferences, Pilgrim Center of Hope accomplishes its mission of evangelization and providing messages of hope in daily life. In addition, the Center has personnel that have over 25 years of experience in planning and leading pilgrimages (journeys of faith & inspiration) to the Holy Land, Marian Shrines and other authentic sites related to Church history. The pilgrimages provide an opportunity for people to seek God, healing,
spiritual renewal, reparation, forgiveness, and other personal graces.PCHhad a Spanish speaking ministry named Peregrinos en Acción that hostedday retreats and trained parish groups
