The Poestenkill Library is a small, rural library in Rensselaer County, NY serving a population of just over 4,000. We are the heart of the community and one of the few social gathering spaces in our village. In addition to providing patrons with free access to our physical collection of books, movies, cake pans, fishing poles and museum passes, and our digital collection of ebooks, audio books, and video streaming services, we also offer a robust array of programming for all ages.
in 2023, our staff welcomed 9,427 library visitors through the doors. Our patrons borrowed a total of 23,099 items combined from our physical and digital collections, and we held 142 in-person programs with a total of 1,817 persons in attendance.
Our ability to continue providing new and high quality services with our limited budget, which hasn't seen an increase in local financial support since 2017, is due in large part to fundraising by our Friends of the Library and through partnerships with local businesses who provide donations of goods and services.
