In an increasingly global society, becoming fully bilingual and bicultural is one of the best educational opportunities available. At Mebae Kindergarten, we strive to provide our Japanese and American students with just that. Classes are held every Saturday on the California State University campus in Sacramento (CSUS). Established in 1978, Mebae Kindergarten has served young children living in the greater Sacramento area for more than 35 years. We are also one of the most distinguished schools of its kind in the U.S., recognized by the Japanese Ministry of Education.
our kindergarten program has become an integral part of the community providing early childhood education in Japanese language. We fully provide our lessons and materials in Japanese. This helps ensure readiness and smooth transitions for our students who eventually return to Japan. Children at Mebae Kindergarten are also immersed in Japanese traditions to help them understand their heritage and shape their own identity. The students and their families participate in seasonal events such as “Undoukai” (Japanese Sports Day).
