Porter Elementary just recently won the BLUE Ribbon Awards for Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing. This means we are one of our state's highest performing schools in closing achievement gaps between a schools student groups and all students. We all wore blue the day after the U. S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recognized all 325 schools as National Blue Ribbon schools for 2021. Out of 325, only 26 are from Texas. Out of those 26 Texas schools, only 4 are from DFW. Of all those 4 DFW schools, only Porter got the Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing award. We are a Title 1 school, which means most of our students are from low socio-economic families. Teachers and staff strive to help every single child. They are not just number, they are our futre, our kids, our students.
We would like to celebrate our achievement by having a little pep rally our mini parade around our school. We are expecting parents and community to participate and hep us celebrate. As one of the Dallas County schools, we wish for our DFW companies to sponsor us, we need shirts for our 500 students, teachers, and staff (old and new). We also would like to be able to give our students some gifts for all their hard work. Thank you so much in advance.
