The Porter Fire Department (Porter Volunteer Firefighters Inc.) is a volunteer department that serves the Town of Porter and surrounding areas with over 400 fire and water rescues each year. Founded in 1908, the department covers a variety of emergency situations including medical assistance, automobile accidents, water emergencies, and fires. 

The Porter Fire Department participates in a unique fundraising activity called Porter's Perfect Pint each October. The event helps raise funds through a silent auction which are then used for trainings, equipment upgrades, and assistance to the Park Department.
