Prestonwood Montessori at E. D. Walker is one of Dallas ISD’s newest Montessori campuses, launched in August 2021 with prekindergarten through second grade. The campus will expand one grade level each year up to 5th grade. Scholars at Prestonwood Montessori at E. D. Walker may also participate in the Two-Way Dual Language program, learning in both English and Spanish. Montessori instruction emphasizes student self-discovery and independence and is ideal for students who are independent thinkers and enjoy hands-on learning and collaborative work. This academic model includes: multi-age grouping, uninterrupted work cycle, guided choice of work, prepared environments, hands-on materials, social emotional learning and much more. Montessori classrooms feature creative hands-on materials and individual, small group and collaborative learning opportunities. Our combined PTO advocates for the whole child and raises funds for events and materials.
