Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington (POB) is an evidence-based eye health nonprofit dedicated to improving and preserving sight and quality of life by providing services and education and championing healthy vision and innovation to everyone in the Greater DC area.
Our goal is to reduce the economic, social, and emotional burdens of vision loss in our community. Current initiatives include a) vision acuity testing and glaucoma screenings for working-age and retired adults; b) vision screening, eyeglasses distribution for children and adults; c) educational resources and events; and d) low vision support services. Each year the organization reaches 13,000 individuals. Everyone is welcome to participate in programming, regardless of race, color, religion, sexual identity, or nation of origin.
