Every one of us has the right to pursue the life we choose. PROVAIL supports people with disabilities so they too can participate and engage in life according to their own choices. We work with our clients to build pathways to independence, integration, and inclusion, and navigate their personal journey with dignity and respect. We see everyone as a person first: unique, capable, and deserving of the opportunity to live their life according to their own choices. Our programs and services are tailored to the individual to maximize accessibility and inclusion. Our wide range of services position us to be supportive throughout a person’s life with personalized solutions based on each individual’s choices.

Founded in 1942, PROVAIL has eight decades of experience and expertise. Our programs and services have proven over time to improve quality of life for people with a range of intellectual and developmental disabilities. With their unique skills and long tenure with PROVAIL, our staff bring diverse backgrounds to this work.

With a focus on King and Snohomish counties and services expanding into other areas of the state, our programs focus on three areas of life on the pathway to inclusion:

The ability to communicate and be mobile is a prerequisite to make choices about our lives. Mobility & Communication services enable children and adults with many different types of disabilities to more independently interact with their community. Today, we partner with clients, their families, educational and clinical specialists, school districts, and employers to ensure that each person has the technology and therapeutic supports they need to engage in school and the community. We serve people with a wide variety of  disabilities. Many of these individuals have intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) such as autism, cerebral palsy or Down syndrome. While our clients range in age from young children to older adults, our strategic focus is on assistive technology solutions for school-age children.

The right job opens up new opportunities, new relationships, and greater social identity. Employment services help people discover their strengths, goals, and options. We also provide job development services to help businesses identify needs and areas for growth. Then, we match employers – from small businesses to large corporations – with qualified employees. Our ongoing job coaching helps the business and the employee build confidence. With over 600 individuals working in over 300 businesses, our employment programs support clients age 18 and up, most with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each participant is contributing to their community’s growth and productivity.

Neighborhoods that embrace diversity have a positive societal impact: everyone is seen and heard. Our Home & Lifestyle programs support independent living and enable community participation. We currently provide personal care, nursing care and other services to 90 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injury living in 24 community integrated homes.

Our strategic plan calls for growth and development of programs and services to address unmet needs for individuals across Washington. Experience tells us that early intervention results in better outcomes. Our plan focuses on expanding services to support children and young adults. Research confirms that early intervention positively impacts a life trajectory. PROVAIL has a plan to connect more people with disabilities to more services, sooner. Capitalizing on our unique ability and desire to increase impact by focusing on individuals earlier in their lives – we  are ready to take our successful models to meet needs throughout the state.
