Racine County 4-H is part of a nationwide organization that has a goal to give youth hands-on educational opportunities in a wide array of areas. The horse project is just one of those opportunities and is open to any youth whether they own a horse or not. Kids learn about equine veterinary science, daily care & nutritional needs, as well as opportunities to learn & grow their skills in a handful of horsemanship disciplines.
One of our goals is that cost isn't a barrier for any youth to participate, which is why our fundraising efforts are so important. The Racine 4-H Horse Project offers monthly educational meetings, several hands-on horse clinics in the spring, and a weekend horse camp in the summer, all free of charge to the youth. One of the highlights of our year is when the youth get to show what they've learned during the Racine County Fair in July.
