At Wiltsey Middle School, we empower a safe, respectful, and responsible community of lifelong learners to achieve high levels of learning by providing an equitable and challenging learning environment. We are a title 1 school in which the majority of the students and families that are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Unfortunately, the funding we have does not support the enormous need the students and families have for everyday items such as school supplies, clean clothes, jackets, shoes, food and a place to live. Our staff is amazing and answers the call for those students in need more often than they should and out of their own pocket. Through programs instituted over the last three years we have increased attendance, Reading levels, Math level, social emotional learning and decreased suspension rates. With that in mind it is increasing difficult to reward out students who despite their struggles have persevered and are doing well. Of our 267 current 8th grade students 104 of those students scored proficient in Math or English and in some cases both on last years state test. Before they leave Middle school and enter into high school, we would like to reward these students for their tremendous effort, positive attitude and undeniable grit that makes their success possible.
