Reach Out and Read gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating pediatric care and encouraging families to read together.
Each year, Reach Out and Read Kansas City provides 65,210 new culturally and developmentally appropriate books to 26,000 low-income children, birth to age 5, during well-child visits at our partner clinic sites, building a 15-book library for each child before they enter kindergarten.
It’s vital that children benefit from reading and other language-rich experiences starting at birth. Reading together furthers language acquisition, promotes brain development, and provides an opportunity for families to build powerful, lasting bonds.
Our network of pediatric clinicians provides families with the understanding and tools they need to make reading and storytelling part of their daily routines.
