Hi! My name is Rachel Olimb and I’m the Community Life Director at Redemption Church Gilbert. I have the honor and privilege of caring for our staff of 50 men and women who work tirelessly to serve our city and our community.
Through our staff’s efforts alone we have been able to press into vulnerable populations to spread love and meet practical needs of our neighbors. Just to name a few:
- They responded in a massive way to the plea from The Town of Gilbert to replenish the local food banks, and recruited our entire church to participate.
- They locked arms with the Salvation Army and provided a cooling station for people experiencing homelessness during the summer months last year.
- They took up a shoe and clothing collection this last year that supported the DCS Phoenix Placement Center.
- They have invested in several local Title 1 Schools in our area to help mind the gap of low income families and teachers struggling to care for them, including writing personal notes to the teachers of these schools to encourage them in the work they are doing.
- They have created an on-going initiative called “Redemption Care Packages” full of hygiene and food items provided to our local Fire and Police Stations so our first responders can hand out these packages to our homeless neighbors.
- They volunteered to meet the needs of refugees being housed in our state and helped to setup apartments to welcome them.
- They provide a safe and welcoming place for hurting people in our community.
