RIHA, (Regional Ice Hockey Association) is a 501c3 Non Profit Organization formed in 2008 to bring Ice Hockey to the six High Schools of the Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD). This organization is comprised of parents and volunteers from all over the district who graciously volunteer their time.

In May of 2008, the Freehold Regional Board of Education agreed to support Ice Hockey in their High Schools via a self-funded model. Teams were formed for Colts Neck, Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan and Marlboro High Schools and the teams hit the ice representing their schools inter-scholastically for the first time in November of 2008. Since 2008, we have entered into cooperative agreements with Raritan High School and Colts Neck High School, who play cooperatively for our Freehold Boro High School; Holmdel High School, who plays cooperatively for Marlboro High School; and Matawan High School who plays cooperatively for Howell High School.

Today, we are proud to say that our teams have competitively participated each year since 2008, with most making playoffs and some even competing in state championships for their respective schools. Based on enrollment numbers each year, we field Varsity and JV teams.

Our unique situation is quite challenging each year, as we are required to meet an estimated $275,000 budget each year to provide ice time, coach's salaries, busing, referee fees and uniforms.

We believe that our students deserve the opportunity to represent their respective high school while playing the game they love. Our goal is to make sure that each school is provided this opportunity for many years to come.
