Under the umbrella of Richmond Public Schools, I currently teach students with Autism in a low incident Special Education self contained classroom; at The Richmond High School for the Arts. Our students are unique, and are limited to opportunities. Our program is dedicated to ensuring that each student is meet on their academic levels. We focus on helping them achieve their academic goals, as well as their post secondary goals. We focus on life skills, and building real life connections within the community. Each week we take our students on work based learning trips; which exposes them to job readiness skills. Additionally, our students take community based learning trips; where they can interact with their community, learn how to navigate using public transportation, and independent living skills. We embody Richmond Public Schools three core values equity, engagment, and excellence.
