Riverdale Housing Action Group (RHAG) is a non-profit organization that has existed since 1986 and provides rent-geared to income housing, support services and community programs to low-income women, children and families. Our tenants experience many barriers such as poverty, family breakdown, violence and mental and physical health conditions. In 1997, we started Riverdale Housing Animation Programs (RHAP) in response to the needs of RHAG’s community; a recreational and educational program for children and youth. With the support of community donors, RHAP provides a free summer camp for our young tenants who otherwise would not have access to camp. Last summer, we provided 50 children and youth with a fun and safe educational and recreational camp experience. In addition, all our participants enjoyed free nutritious lunches and snacks. RHAP programs work to create strong communities and create learning and leadership opportunities for youth.
