Our mission is to strive to help the homeless pregnant woman who has chosen life for her child.  Our goal is to provide a safe environment where she can achieve a healthy pregnancy while addressing her emotional, financial, spiritual, and educational needs for future independent living.  This will include helping them to obtain needed items such as a driver’s license, GED, technical or academic degrees and assistance with job searches.  We will offer the women classes in the home on budgeting, planning and preparation of nutritious meals, housekeeping, newborn care, parenting, and spirituality.

As part of our research, we met with local agencies to better assess if there is a need for a crisis pregnancy home.  We spoke with people working at the Fairview Community Health Center, Lifeskills and the Family Enrichment Center and all told us there is a need for a residential home for pregnant women and they would be able to refer women to us.  In our conversations, it became clear that if a woman was on drugs or seeking shelter from abuse, there are resources available, however if not, there are no safe places for her to stay.  While our community has the pregnancy support center on Magnolia Street and the support center at Living Hope Baptist Church, there is no place a woman in crisis can live if pregnant.

This home will be the FIRST of its type in this area.
