As we all know, attending school is essential for students to gain academic and social skills. Chronic absenteeism leaves third graders unable to read proficiently, sixth graders struggling with coursework, and high school students off track for graduation. This is why it is essential to emphasize the importance of attendance in elementary, and we do it by engaging the students in conversations about why attendance is essential. Contests encourage competition among students to see who can best increase attendance and engagement at all grade levels who may not see the benefits of attending school every day. Incentives and contests take advantage of the fact that students often respond better to concrete rewards, positive peer pressure, and friendly competition than punishment. This year we will use this model to encourage and celebrate good and improved attendance. To strengthen our students' support, we have planned for school-wide Attendance Awareness Events that would greatly benefit from vendor/business donations, such as appropriate raffle prizes. Any contribution is greatly appreciated in assisting this event. In return for your generosity, your business will be recognized as a donator/supporter of our school.
