We are a youth group that is part of three churches in the Delmar Community. The Delmar Reformed Church, the First United Methodist Church of Delmar and the Delmar Presbyterin Church. These three churches combined their high school youth group programming about 30 years ago to give 9-12th in the community a safe place to meet. We do a lot of volunteering in our local community and then once a year we go on a mission trip to serve for a week.
The teens work hard and help change lives but more often than not, the eye-opening experience change the lives of the young volunteers as well. This year, from April 13th-18th, a group of 35 teens and adult chaperones, will work with an organization called Youth Opportunity Service Project (YSOP) in Washington D.C. During the week, students will volunteer at different sites around the city serving meals at soup kitchens; providing recreational activities and companionship to young, formerly homeless children; distribute food and supplies at food pantries; socialize and bring snacks to people in drop-in centers.
