Safe Families for Children Wisconsin plays a vital role in supporting families at risk of entering the child welfare system. By connecting families with volunteers—Family Friends, Family Coaches, Resource Friends, and Host Families—we create a comprehensive support network that fosters stability and resilience. This model not only helps keep children safe but also strengthens family bonds during challenging times. By addressing isolation and providing practical resources and emotional support, Safe Families empowers families to overcome obstacles and thrive together. Our mission to create a supportive community is essential in helping families navigate their crises while maintaining their integrity as a unit.
Safe Families for Children Wisconsin is essential in addressing the pressing challenges in Racine and Kenosha counties, particularly given the critical condition of local child welfare departments. With Kenosha ranking 4th in Wisconsin for out-of-home placements compared to Dane county which is three times the size, our work is crucial in providing support to families at risk. By fostering relationships and stability, we effectively reduce the likelihood of child welfare involvement.
Our goals of preventing child abuse and neglect, minimizing the number of children entering the system, and supporting families are vital in creating a healthier community. Through our relational approach, we not only address immediate needs but also empower families to thrive, ultimately enhancing the well-being of children and families in these communities. Your commitment to building a supportive network can have a lasting impact on the lives of many.
