With a mission to “inspire everyone to be curious and engaged in science,” the Saint Louis Science Center serves as an educational resource for current information, a public forum and a playground for the imagination. Comprising 382,000 square feet of exhibit space and grounds, the Saint Louis Science Center is one of the top 10 science centers for size and attendance in the United States. Our vision is to be the regional leader in connecting people with science.

The Science Center’s unique complex spans Interstate 64 on the edge of Forest Park in midtown St. Louis. Visitors experience hands-on science learning through more than 700 interactive exhibits as explorers and budding scientists walk on Mars in the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, see planet Earth as the dinosaurs did in Environment and Ecology Past, extract DNA in the Life Science Lab, engineer new parachute designs in the Makerspace, complete a miniature Gateway Arch in the Structures gallery, and explore the science of food in the indoor/outdoor GROW exhibit. Current documentary films run in the OMNIMAX® Theater, and national touring exhibitions share the latest scientific discoveries. The Science Center seeks to engage the broadest audiences possible through programs designed for families, school groups, educators, teens, community organizations, and adults as we invite everyone to create a more connected world through the power of their curiosity – and general admission is always free.

The Saint Louis Science Center expands its impact through educational programs for learners of all ages. Its signature youth development program, Youth Exploring Science (YES), encourages teens who are socio-economically disadvantaged and traditionally underrepresented in the sciences to set and achieve educational and STEM-related career goals. School programs, camp-ins, summer camps, scout events, science cafes, and travel programs get young, and young-at-heart, visitors excited about doing science.
