Our Story
Salt ‘n Light was born out of a movement happening in the Central PA United Methodist church in the mid-1990’s called “The Bishop’s Flock.” Students across the region had a passion for sharing their faith with peers, and leaders were appointed to help give them a platform to do so. Starting with weekend retreat events, numerous other outreaches quickly developed to help students share the gospel and embolden other youth in their faith.
Currently, Salt ‘n Light provides year-round programming through events, missions, retreats, and more. Utilizing powerful worship, self-developed drama and a dance ministry, Salt ‘n Light’s programming has been enriched and expanded to provide continuous ministry opportunities through all its events.
As the ministry continues to grow, it is Salt ‘n Light’s hope to share the gospel with as many people as possible. This includes plans to increase attendance at events, develop online content and resources for youth ministers and connect with people and churches outside the current Salt ‘n Light network. With exciting new opportunities on the horizon, the leadership team at Salt ‘n Light is committed to being ministry-focused and relational in everything the organization does now and in the future.
