"Empowering our community to live healthy lives by providing prevention, intervention, and recovery support services for children and adults."

In 1957, the San Antonio Council on Alcohol and Drug Awareness was founded by a group of influential citizens to support adults struggling with substance misuse. Youth Prevention programs were added in the 1980's. We have 45 full-time staff and 7 part-time staff employed.

Our core services include evidence based substance use prevention curriculum taught in schools to at-risk youth and geared for elementary, middle, and high school students. Assessments and referrals for drug and alcohol services are done as needed.

Our vision for the next 5 years is to continue reaching out to more school and community events to bring awareness about the consequences of substance use to our youth in hopes of giving hem a way to lead a drug-free, productive life.

We are looking for a donation for our silent auction at our annual Red Ribbon Luncheon. This year's event will be held on October 31, 2019 at the Omni Colonnade Hotel. Our celebrity keynote speaker will be Sam Quinones, author, who will speak about the opoid epidemic in America. We anticipate over 350 business leaders, as well as City and State dignitaries.
