The San Antonio Gaelic Athletic Club (Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Naomh Antaine) was formed in the Spring of 2011.

The Club’s nickname, the San Patricios, celebrates and honors the complex, intertwined histories and cultures of Ireland, Texas and Mexico.

Club founders Adrian Brett, Jason Binkley, formed the nucleus of what would become the SAGAC. Connecting over a shared passion for the game of Gaelic football and looking to stay connected to their Irish roots, they created the city’s first and only club from the ground up.

The SAGAC's mission is to celebrate the sport and traditions of Irish culture and foster a community that keeps those traditions alive.

From its early days, that started off as a small group looking for something new and a way to connect to new people, the SAGAC has blossomed into a unique community. It’s grown into a vibrant, diverse family of over fifty members, with players from over eleven states and six countries.

We’re excited to be celebrating our 10th Anniversary as a Club this year. From a couple of guys on a dusty field to a club that’s grown to include a Mens Gaelic football team, a Ladies Gaelic football team, a Mens Hurling team and an Irish Youth Sports initiative, we’ve come a long way.

None of that would be possible without the commitment, and passion of all the members, sponsors, and supporters that have played a role in making the SAGAC what it is today.

To those that went before and those that will follow. Seasamh le cheíle, we stand together.

We are hosting the 2021 San Antonio Solace Sunrise Walk!!

100% of the proceeds from the Walk and accompanying fundraisier will benefit the Solace House Suicide Prevention Center and its free services for those in need.

We hosted in 2019 to great success, raising over $3000.  We’re hoping for that same success this year, but we need your help.

You can support this endeavor by participating in a couple of ways:

We’re holding a Music Bingo Fundraiser at Roadmap Brewing Co. on Friday, June 4th at 7pm.  Six rounds of Music Bingo along with a raffle. Each round will feature a different music theme.

There will be a variety of prizes up for grabs, so plenty of opportunities to win.
The Solace Sunrise Walk will take place at Woodlawn Lake Park on Saturday, June 12th at 5:00am.  This walk will take place concurrently in cities across the country.  Why we walk:

To create more awareness around suicide prevention and mental health.

In remembrance of those lost to suicide.

To offer hope, as a community, to those in need and to remind them that they are not alone.

You can register at https://solacehouseusa.org/ event/san-antonio-sunrise-walk

The SAGAC was founded on the mission that a GAA club offers more than sports to its community.  By celebrating our diversity, and standing together, we can continue to provide a tangible and lasting impact in our city and beyond.
