SARG, Inc. (Shelter Animals Rescue Group), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was formed in Jan. 1996, for the purpose of giving animals from the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter and surrounding area a second chance at life. SARG is dedicated to reducing the population of unwanted animals and committed to placement of animals into loving and responsible homes. SARG supports community outreach programs such as animal welfare services, pet supplies and food distribution, and support for local shelters.
SARG serves residents and animals in the Oak Ridge, TN and the surrounding Anderson County, TN.
In 2022, SARG assisted the community by:
-25 dogs and 27 cats were rescued and adopted.
-8 cats and 5 dogs were supported by SARG in permanent foster care
-Spay/Neuter Program: 310 animals including distemper and rabies vaccinations (Total Cost $18,229.34)
-Monthly pet food donations for Clinton Senior Center and St. Mary's Oak Ridge Food Pantry for 80 to 85 low-income families (Total cost $3,000.00)
-Trap Neuter Release (TNR): 221 cats/kittens (Total cost $8,860.50)
-Vet expenses (SARG animals total cost $103,342.63; Emergency medical assists $36,890.34)
