The Schenectady County Department of Probation serves the residents of Schenectady County in an effort to elevate the quality of life for the residents of Schenectady County and create safer communities; enhance public safety by providing effective community-based strategies promoting positive behavior change, accountability and law-abiding behavior. The Center for Juvenile Justice, a unit in the Department of Probation, has a goal of delivering services and treatment programs that provide structured social learning and family based training. The focus is on accountability for the youth and the safety of the community by engaging our youth to take responsibility for their actions and repair the harm they've done to their community. We also strive to provide experiences for the youth in areas outside of their comfort zone; to try new activities and build positive relationships with Probation Officers and other positive community members and credible messengers.
