Our goal is for our students to leave Scott High School college, career, and/or military ready so they will have the confidence and skills to fulfill their dreams and reach their potential. The administration, faculty, and staff work diligently to ensure our students grow academically, behaviorally, and socially each year. We promise that we will do our part as educators, but we emphasize that our students have to do their part as students, which means they need to come to school, behave at school, and work hard and try their best at school. If they do those things, they will be successful.
We want Scott High School to be known throughout West Virginia as a School of Excellence, but it will take a team effort that includes our students, their families, our employees, and our stakeholders. When our students fill out a college or job application and they write down “Scott High School,” we want them to have an advantage over their competitors because people will know they graduated from a school in which excellence is expected and achieved. We help accomplish this through our student reward program and school motto — “All In, Every Day.” When Scott High School employees and students are “all in,” that means they promise to give their best efforts every day regardless of the circumstances that life throws at them — and then they actually do it. In other words, they not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk. As Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” At Scott High School, we want to establish habits that produce excellence in school and life. With that in mind, we emphasize, recognize, and reward excellence in academic achievement, attendance, and behavior with our “All In” program. We check students’ academic, attendance, and behavior records every four and a half weeks to determine if they meet the criteria to receive a reward for their efforts. These checks coincide with the timelines for progress reports and report cards.
